Get serious, get a carbon.
Alum spars bend during high speed downwind crashes, big waves, and over time with big vang pulls. Aluminum has a finite number of cycles before breaking. If you do bend one, you can bend it back into shape but it is weakened and is nearing the end. When it breaks it tears the luff sleeve. Hope you are using a practice sail and close to shore when it happens. Carbon top appears stiffer and transmits energy better to boat. Wash it, keep it out of UV, and protect it during transport…it’s worth the extra care. Fit and finish on these are superb.
