Description
The Aero started a revolution when it was released in 2015. Within two years, it was hosting Worlds with 100+ boats. This is truly the first singhlanded boat we’ve sold that has generated true excitement and passion out of the gate. The Aero offers more to like the more you get to know it. It is incredibly light - with a hull weight of 67 lbs (less than any boat we sell, and half the weight of other boats in the size range). It has a full epoxy hull with carbon reinforcement - a carbon mast and boom, carbon foils and a very modern sail plan. At an 88 lb fully rigged sailing weight, the Aero is ~50lbs (!) less than the hulls of other single-handers. That lightness creates a sailing sensation that isn’t replicated anywhere else. The Aero will refine your skills, and reminds customers the world over why they got into dinghy sailing in the first place. With three rig options, men, women, and kids can experience the joy of a modern dinghy designed in the 21st century. Thousands sold worldwide, with close to 600 in the United States and an active US class association.

Features
- The RS Aero hull length supports a larger helmsman without being too much for smaller sailors.
- The hull width provides optimum performance while still fitting on most vehicle roof racks.
- The RS Aero's hard chine provides more stability and allows waterline and wetted surface to be less effected by the sailors weight.
- The raked bow on the RS Aero leads to greater flare in the foward 20%, giving added buoyancy and better handling in waves.
- Midship hull shape was designed with stability in mind, while the transom shape has been fine tuned to ensure the RS Aero planes bow up.
- The gunwale runs parallel to the ceterline in the aft half of the boat to allow for maximum righting moment wherever you are sitting.
- That same design also allows the RS Aero to...
- float lower when capsized for easier recovery
- sit better alongside a dock or coach boat
- have more space alongside for spars when upside down on a roof rack
- The hull and deck are joined with a U section gunwale which creates a "box frame" around the boat distributing rig load.
- U section gunwales also make it easier to right the boat when inverted, handle the boat when launching, and they make for a dryer ride upwind and reaching.
- The deck profile was chosen to minimize weight while addressing structural concerns, and at the same time maximizing comfort in all conditions.
- The RS Aero was designed to stack up to three high on a single boat trailer to eliminate the need for multi-boat trailers.
Construction
- Flat panels on the chined hull of the RS Aero allow for lighter construction
- The simple shape reduces time in the manufacturing process
- Epoxy resin is used for its high strength and low water absorption properties.
- Woven glass mat is used throughout the RS Aero hull.
- Carbon fiber is used in all high load areas such as around the mast step, in the hiking region of the deck, all around the gunwales, and in the transom.
