Zim and the JSA of LIS Partner to Bring Roundtable to Long Island Sound

Mid-Atlantic Zim Regional Roundtable Scheduled for March 8th & 9th

BRISTOL, R.I. (January 25, 2024) - Zim Sailing and the Junior Sailing Association of Long Island Sound (JSA of LIS) are proud to announce a partnership to host a special 2-Day Mid-Atlantic Regional Roundtable at Stamford Yacht Club on March 8th and 9th, 2024.

With the JSA of LIS celebrating its 100th Anniversary this year, the ongoing partnership between Zim Sailing and Regional Sailing Associations provides a perfect opportunity to bring the popular collaboration event to the Mid-Atlantic Region.

"2024 marks the 100th year of support for junior sailing programs by the JSA of LIS," said Bob Whittredge, Executive Director. "The JSA coordinates educational activities to enhance the effectiveness of its member junior sailing programs in the Long Island Sound region, and this Zim Regional Roundtable will be a fine opportunity for program leaders from the entire Mid-Atlantic region to share experiences and gain insights during this 100th year of JSA’s history.”

The Mid-Atlantic Regional Roundtable will be a special 2-Day event, with a “Competitive Sailing” focus on Friday and a “Recreational/Learn to Sail” focus on Saturday. Attendees are expected from all parts of the Long Island Sound region to share, learn, and collaborate on ways to improve sailing activities within their region. Participants are also encouraged and expected to attend from all over the Tri-State area and as far south as Annapolis, MD.

“Sailing for so many of us is more than a sport, but a life-long passion where the opportunity to learn never ends”, commented Tim Clark, Board Chair for the Junior Sailing Association of Long Island Sound. “All of us associated with the JSA of LIS applaud Zim’s commitment to organizing these regional Roundtables where we will have the opportunity to connect, share ideas, and continue to learn.”

Focused topics within the “Competitive” and “Recreational/Learn to Sail” daily sessions are not fully developed yet, but will be published on Zim’s Regional Roundtable webpage once finalized. Zim and JSA of LIS are open to suggestions from registrants about topics of interest, and those suggestions can be emailed to David Neely at neely.dave@gmail.com. Participants are welcome to attend one or both days of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Roundtable, but are advised that there are two separate registration forms for the “Competitive” and “Recreational/Learn to Sail” sessions.
