ZIM DOMINATES 2022 C420 TRIPLE CROWN

Every year, hundreds of the best sailing athletes hit the water in the Club 420s to compete for the Triple Crown Championship. As the pinnacle of Club 420 racing it measures performance at the major class events to determine an overall champion.

Zim C420s dominated the Triple Crown rankings in 2022 with a clean sweep of the top 3!

  • Griggs & Emery Diemar sailed their Zim C420 to victory, winning Nationals, North Americans, and South Shore handily. They scored a perfect 120 Triple Crown points. Congratulations!
  • Peter Busch & Cam Spriggs placed second with 112 Triple Crown points, sailing their Zim C420.
  • Reade Decker & Sophia Mulvania took third in their Zim C420 after losing the tiebreaker with Peter & Cam.

A huge congratulations to the sailors who put in the work to win. It takes dedication, passion, and hard work to consistently win in this class. While you put in the hours on the practice course our team works incredibly hard to make sure that our Zim C420s are the best boat we can, and we have a tremendous amount of pride in our boats. Great sailors sailing great boats is the perfect combination!

Details about the C420 Triple Crown Championship

Teams register as a set combination of skipper and crew, and awards are presented to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers.

In addition to pitting the top athletes in the country against each other, the Triple Crown is a fantastic entry point for less-experienced athletes getting their first taste of large-fleet racing.

Four events currently make up the Triple Crown; only the top three regatta scores will count for each team.

  • C420 Midwinter Championship (USSCMC)
  • C420 National Championship (2023 - Chicago YC)
  • C420 North American Championship (2023 - SailNewport)
  • C420 South Shore Championship (Sayville YC)
